Rainfall in Tamil Nadu: 10 Districts Proclaim Holidays and Chennai Schools Close Due to Heavy Rains
Heavy rains have prompted the closure of schools in Chennai and nine other districts in Tamil Nadu. The deployment of the NDRF is prompted by the IMD's prediction of heavy rainfall throughout the state.
Chennai Rains
Due to Tamil Nadu's ongoing, intense rains, schools in ten districts—including Chennai, Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, Pudukottai, Thiruvarur, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, and Thanjavur—will not function on Thursday. An article on Chennai Weather X claims that the statement has not yet been formally verified. To ensure they don't miss any crucial information, students are encouraged to enquire with their schools for the most recent information.
IMD predicts heavy rains
Light to moderate rains are expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). While Chennai, Thiruvallu, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu may get heavy rainfall, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Pudukkottai districts are predicted to have heavy to very heavy rains, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning.
On-call emergency services
To lessen the effects of the rains, state emergency teams and members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been sent in. Similar weather conditions forced the closure of schools and institutions in the districts of Tiruvarur, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Mayladuthurai earlier in November.
